HSE to Name Companies Ignoring Health & Safety
Law
HSE will pursue a
policy of naming companies that flout health & safety law. A report naming companies
and individuals convicted the previous twelve months will be published annually. The names
of those convicted will also be listed on the HSE's Internet Website.
Warning on Posters
HSE has issued a
warning that some companies are selling versions of the new Health & Safety Law. Note
the Health & Safety Law - What you should know poster must be "kept displayed in
a readable condition at a place where it is reasonably accessible". The poster or
leaflet to be issued to staff is as follows: ISBN 0 7176 2493 5 for the poster price

HSE Central Incident Reporting Scheme
Following the success of the HSE
pilot scheme in Scotland, there will be a centralised accident and incident reporting
system through a single address and telephone number. Employers will have the opportunity
to select reporting by internet, phone, fax or post. The central system it is hoped will
be operational by April 2000.

Safety is not devolved to Scotland however an agreement has been reached regarding joint
